Can I Pick Your Brains?

Hand cut three dimensional collage constructed from a found vintage illustration of the brain.

Presented in a hand finished wooden frame.

Card, foam

24cm x 24cm

£150

These three dimensional collages are inspired by my love of kaleidoscopes. Coined by its Scottish inventor David Brewster, "kaleidoscope" is derived from the Ancient Greek word καλός (kalos, meaning beautiful, beauty), εἶδος (eidos, meaning that which is seen: form, shape) and σκοπέω (skopeō, meaning to look to, to examine), hence observation of beautiful forms.

Each piece starts with a found image which is scanned in to the computer and turned into the final design. Several copies are printed and then they are painstakingly hand cut using eye surgery scissors and scalpels. Each paper sculpture can take up to a month to make from start to finish.

Available to view by appointment only.

Conviction

Hand cut three dimensional collage constructed from found images of the human digestive system. Conviction is a firmly held belief or opinion and something we most often feel in our guts. It is our capacity to make decisions based on what our digestive system tells us that inspired me to make this piece.

Hand cut three dimensional collage constructed from found images of the human digestive system. Courage is the attitude of facing and dealing with anything recognized as dangerous, difficult, or painful, instead of withdrawing from it. It is our capacity to make decisions based on what our digestive system tells us that inspired me to make this piece.
